“Authenticity” is the basis for Sylvan’s writing program.  At Sylvan, authenticity means to learn and practice using writing skills in real–life settings and activities that mimic daily experiences. Practicing vocabulary is put into practical use by using new words in a letter to a friend, a technique proven to be much more effective than memorizing dictionary definitions.
Sylvan's writing tutoring programs are designed for students in grade 4 through grade 12 and are grouped in the following levels:

Students at every level will learn to express thoughts more clearly and effectively as well as develop skills in sentence structure, paragraph development and the grammar and mechanics of writing.
Sylvan's writing tutoring program was created in accordance with the standards for language arts instruction in major school districts across the nation. Additionally, every Sylvan writing tutor delivers our program in compliance with standards set by the National Council of Teachers of English. At Sylvan, you'll see your child engage in active thinking and writing activities that will increase his/her interest and performance in writing, and in learning overall.
