Pamela Bard-Cingle
Executive Director at the Lancaster and Palmyra Centers

Pamela L. Bard grew up in Lancaster and graduated from Warwick High School. Pamela earned her degreee in Early Childhood Development and Elementary Education from Shippensburg University.

Pamela is a state certified teacher and has a wealth of experience providing leadership and direction for the education and care of children. Her responsibilities at Sylvan Learning Center include meeting with parents, overseeing the learning center and the Prometric Technology Center, administration and hiring, and school visits.

Pamela loves working with students, both children and adults. When asked what she liked teaching, Pamela did not respond "Reading" or "Math". Her emphatic response was, "Students!"



Jennifer Martin
Center Director of Lancaster and the Regional Director of Palmyra

Center Director, Jennifer Martin obtained her bachelors in English from York College of Pennsylvania. She taught American and British Literature for 11th and 12th grade students at Eastern York and East Pennsboro High Schools before joining Sylvan's staff and she has been a member of the Sylvan management team for eight years.

Jennifer's responsibilities include scheduling classes for teachers and students, testing of incoming students, conducting parent conferences, monitoring student programs and progress and hiring and training teachers.

Jennifer's philosophy is embodied in the anonymous quotation, "Dream to touch the stars and live to reach your dreams." She tries to instill this into every student at Sylvan Learning and she's proud to be part of that ongoing dream.


Aimee Bergner
Director of Education at the Lancaster Center

Aimee holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Shippensburg University. Aimee's has been a member of the Sylvan team for over 3 years. Her responsibilities include meeting with parents to determine and monitor student goals, communicating with the student's classroom teachers, and training Sylvan staff members.

Aimee loves to be able to see students succeed at the center and then see them build their confidence to carry what they learned at Sylvan over into the classroom. There is nothing more rewarding then having a student share with us the fact that they did well on a test, or that they got an A in a class at school for the first time!


Lancaster Center:

Karen Sallee
Associate Director at the Lancaster Center

Karen is a state certified teacher in Elementary and Special Education. She has been employed with Sylvan for three years; starting as a part time teacher, and six months later, moving into an administrative role at the center.

Karen believes that confidence plays a vital role in every student's success.

She enjoys being part of a team that works together to identify and meet the educational needs of each student, resulting in increased confidence and success for a lifetime.

Karen's responsibilities include attending to inquiry calls, scheduling initial diagnostic assessments, monitoring student programs and meeting with parents to review students' progress.


Christina Puglisi
Associate Director at the Lancaster Center

Associate Director of Education, Christina Puglisi, is a 2005 graduate of Messiah College. She is a state certified teacher in elementary education.

Christina's responsibilities at Sylvan include teaching, preparing lessons, contacting students' classroom teachers, and meeting with parents.

Christina desires to have every student reach his/her fullest potential. She believes that Sylvan helps students succeed in school and in everything else.


Megan McDermott
Program Manager for the Lancaster Center

Program Manager, Megan McDermott, is a 2008 graduate of Millersville University. She earned her bachelor's degree in Education and is certified in Art (K-12).

Megan's responsibilities at Sylvan include teaching, preparing student's lessons, getting the classroom ready for daily instruction, testing new students, and planning transition time.

Megan believes that building strong relationships with each student is very important to his/her growth and success. Students can achieve their goals if they feel like they have people who believe in them and support them along the way. Megan knows that Sylvan is where students receive the guidance and attention needed to reach and obtain their goals!


Palmyra Center:

Jessica Whitlock
Associate Director of Education at the Palmyra Center

Jessica Whitlock is a Graduate of Millersville University, with a degree in Elementary and Early Childhood Education. Before joining the team at Sylvan, Jessica taught Kindergarten and worked as an assistant director for an early childhood center in Lancaster, Pa.

Jessica is certified in PA to teach children from birth thru 6th grade. Jessica believes that all children have the ability to learn. It is her goal to be able to help students discover the joy of knowledge, and to help them be successful in reaching their full potential.




Jessica Burns
Program Manager at the Lancaster Center

Jessica Burns earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Lancaster Bible College in Lancaster, PA.

She is a PA state certified teacher. Her responsibilities at Sylvan include teaching students of all grade levels, communicating with students' classroom teachers, and conducting parent conferences.

Her philosophy of education is built on the foundation that every child has the ability to learn and to succeed. It is her desire to instill a love and excitement for learning into every student she teaches.


Lynne Peterson
Program Manager at the Palmyra Center

Lynne Peterson is a graduate of Bloomsburg University with a degree in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education.

Lynne's responsibilities at Sylvan include teaching, testing new students, preparing student lessons, and planning student activities.

Lynne takes great pleasure in building relationships with students and helping them reach their fullest potential by fostering self-confidence and a belief in their own abilities.
